Brooklyn General was created by Catherine Clark and Katie Metzger. The store grew out their mutal passion for making things. They had a dream of creating a space where they could be surrounded by their favorite materials and where high quality materials could provide inspiration for people in the community who share their passion.

Katie Metzger has a background in elementary education. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and three children. Catherine Clark is a midwife. She also lives in Brooklyn with her husband and three children.
